What to Expect from East Idaho Therapy

  1. Our First Call with You

When you first give us a call, we’ll take a minute to talk with you and learn about how we can best serve you. We’ll ask:

  • What days and times would work best for your schedule? We may have evenings or weekends available if you’re busy during the day.

  • Would you prefer to meet in person, or remotely over video call? Would you prefer to see a male or a female therapist?

  • Is there a specific therapist you would like to see, or a specific approach that would work well for you?

2. Scheduling an Appointment

After scheduling your free 1 hour consultation with one of our therapists, we’ll send you an email with intake paperwork. These are all filed digitally and can be completed before your appointment. You’ll receive:

  • Forms detailing HIPAA compliance, your insurance information, a co-pay authorization form, and a client history form.

  • Your history form is HIPAA protected - no one at our practice can see it except for your therapist.

  • Your therapist will want to know why you’re seeking services, what you want to get out of therapy, if you’re on any medication, and what has & hasn’t worked for you in the past.

3. Your First Appointment

Your first appointment is a free consultation to give you a chance to meet with your therapist, talk about your goals for therapy, and make sure that you’ll feel comfortable working with them. If you would like to meet with another therapist, that’s no problem at all - just give us a call after your appointment.

If you’re meeting in person, take a seat in the lobby before your appointment time. Your therapist will come out to greet you and show you to their office.

After your appointment, you can stop by the restroom for tissues or a water bottle, or head out - there’s no need to check out with a receptionist.

4. Followup Appointments

After your first meeting, you can discuss your schedule with your therapist or with our front office. We’ll talk about your schedule and set up recurring appointments to fit your schedule and needs.

5. Billing & Insurance

Your intake forms will include a page to list your insurance information and provider, as well as a card number to keep on file. If your insurance has a copay, your card will be charged the Wednesday following your appointment.

If your insurance does not cover therapy, we offer a discounted cash pay rate

  • For more information on our billing process and the insurances we accept, visit our “No Surprises Billing” page. We accept most Idaho insurance plans - a list of the most common providers we work with is available here.

6. Missed Appointments

Life happens, and we understand that you may need to cancel an appointment on short notice. Here’s how we handle missed and cancelled appointments:

  • If you cancel or reschedule more than 24 hours in advance of your appointment time, there is no charge. We are always happy to reschedule to keep your session to keep your cadence of care consistent.

  • For your first missed or cancelled appointment with less than 24 hours notice, we cover the fee ourselves, and still pay your therapist for their time. We want to take good care of both you and our staff when emergencies come up.

  • For any additional missed or cancelled appointments with less than 24 hours notice, we charge a $100 fee (~75% of our hourly cash pay rate) to pay your therapist for their time.

Out of respect for our staff and their schedules, we ask that you reschedule or cancel appointments as far in advance as possible.
