“No Surprises” Billing
In 2022, the US government enacted the “No Surprises Act”, granting protections for certain unexpected medical bills consumers may have received from medical providers. A disclosure notice PDF is available here.
We think this is great - no one should be surprised by the cost of their medical care. In keeping with that belief, we try to be transparent about our billing process and what to expect when working with us.
Insurance Coverage
We accept all Idaho insurance companies, with the exception of Medicaid, Medicare, and Tricare.
A detailed list of insurance providers we work with is available on this page.
If you would like to find out more about your individual insurance benefits, please call the number on the back of your insurance card.
Private Pay Rates
If your insurance doesn’t cover mental health services, or if you would prefer to pay cash, our private pay rate for individual therapy and couples therapy is $130/50 minute session.
Psychiatry and medication management is available at a discounted cash pay rate of $150 / hr. Followup appointments are billed at $75 for half hour sessions.
For psychiatry and medication management only, we cannot offer a cash pay rate to clients covered under insurance companies that we contract with, including United Behavioral Health, Aetna, Cigna, and Blue Cross of Idaho. Our contracts obligate us to bill through insurance for clients insured through these providers.
What to expect at your first appointment
For most of our clients, we’ll send you an email with intake forms and insurance information before your first appointment. We’ll keep your card on file, and charge it for the copay amount the Wednesday following your appointment.
Any unpaid balances are due within 30 days, with a % fee added for balances kept over 30 days.
If something has come up in your life and you’re unable to pay, give us a call to talk through a payment plan or alternative arrangements.
Missed appointment fees
Life happens, and we understand that you may need to cancel an appointment on short notice. Here’s how we handle cancelled appointments:
If you cancel or reschedule more than 24 hours in advance of your appointment time, there is no charge. We are always happy to reschedule to keep your session to keep your cadence of care consistent.
For your first missed or cancelled appointment with less than 24 hours notice, we cover the fee ourselves, and still pay your therapist for their time. We want to take good care of both you and our staff when emergencies come up.
For any additional missed or cancelled appointments with less than 24 hours notice, we charge a $100 fee (~75% of our hourly cash pay rate).
Out of respect for our staff and their schedules, we ask that you reschedule or cancel appointments as far in advance as possible.
