Meet Mary Elizabeth Johnson

Mary Elizabeth Johnson is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW) with nearly a decade of experience supporting teens, adults, and families in healing from trauma and emotional distress. Her practice is rooted in empathy, clinical excellence, and the belief that growth is always possible—even after the most difficult life experiences.

“The clients I usually work with have experienced some kind of traumatic event(s) currently and/or in their past and are struggling with functioning in their daily lives because of the impacts of the event(s) on their mind, body, and relationships. I work with adults, teens and their families who are experiencing stress, dysregulated emotions, strained relationships, and poor self-esteem. These individuals and families want to stop their negative moods and experiences but feel powerless to change them.”

Elle’s Background and Experience

  • Education and Training:
Mary Elizabeth earned her Master of Social Work (MSW) from Arizona State University in 2016. In addition to her clinical degree, she completed a Certificate in Trauma & Bereavement during her studies, laying the foundation for her trauma-focused approach to therapy.

  • Clinical Experience:
With over nine years in the mental health field, Mary Elizabeth specializes in trauma recovery, PTSD, and emotional regulation. She is EMDR-trained and integrates holistic, evidence-based practices tailored to each individual’s needs. Her clients often come to her feeling overwhelmed by anxiety, depression, or past abuse—but through their work together, they build resilience, self-understanding, and lasting change.

  • Therapeutic Approach:
Mary Elizabeth approaches therapy through a trauma-informed, client-centered lens. She uses modalities such as EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), mindfulness-based approaches, and Christian counseling when requested. She believes in treating the whole person—mind, body, and spirit—and tailors each session to meet her client’s unique goals.

  • Availability:
Mary Elizabeth currently provides tele-therapy only, offering virtual sessions for clients across Idaho and Texas.

Elizabeth has experience working with children and teens, and their families, as well as individual adults, to identify problem areas, to gain skills to improve emotional regulation and communication, and to process current and past hurts. Elizabeth utilizes an integrated holistic approach, including EMDR therapy, tailored to each client, to ensure their needs are addressed and a sense of safety is established.
