Meet Ali Casanova, LMSW

Ali is a trauma-informed therapist who works with adolescents and adults navigating anxiety, trauma and PTSD, grief, attachment wounds, and perfectionism. She believes that the patterns people struggle with most often began as ways of surviving, and that healing happens when clients feel safe enough to understand those patterns and choose something new.

Before joining Navigating Your Mind Therapy, Ali spent several years as a domestic violence advocate and support group facilitator, providing crisis intervention and safety planning for survivors of intimate partner violence. That work grounded her practice in empowerment-based care: clients are the experts on their own lives, and Ali's role is to walk alongside them with steadiness, honesty, and respect for their pace.

Ali draws on EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), parts work, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), tailoring each to the client in front of her. Together, these approaches support both stabilization and deeper healing.

  • EMDR helps the brain reprocess distressing memories so they lose their grip.

  • Parts work makes room for the different, sometimes conflicting, sides of ourselves that show up under stress.

  • ACT builds the skills to make space for hard feelings while still moving toward what matters.

Ali is LGBTQIA+ affirming and neurodivergent affirming, with additional training in neurodivergent-affirming therapy for ADHD and autistic clients. She earned her Master of Social Work from Florida State University and completed EMDRIA-approved EMDR training in 2026.
